Conversion
This week, John and Chuck are back with the series on Salvation in Full Color, looking at a sermon on conversion by John Blair.
John Blair (1720 – 1771) was a Presbyterian minister, a Trustee, Professor, and President of Princeton University. His brother Samuel Blair was a leader of the Presbyterian New Light movement.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
In this episode, we’ll be walking through the following questions:
What are two common errors in modern evangelicalism with regard to understanding the nature of conversion, in practical terms?
If we are new creatures in Christ, how is it that there is still sin in our lives?
So what kind of changes would we expect in regeneration/conversion?
How do we know these changes will/must occur in all true conversions?
What about people with godly homes, baptism, morality, and good doctrine from their earliest years?
What are the similarities between common grace and regeneration, and what are the differences?
What advice would you give someone who recently come under real conviction of lostness?
What advice would you give to someone who has never been bothered about their sin?
We hope you’ll join us as we read and study Salvation in Full Color together.
