The Law of God
We shared our first episode of The Whole Counsel (previously The Behold Your God Podcast) two weeks ago. We’re in a new location, we have a new co-host (Chuck Baggett), and we have a new sound.
But a lot of things are staying the same. We are still discussing the same eternal truths and we are still looking to writers and pastors of the past for help. This week, John and Chuck discuss the law of God in the book Salvation in Full Color.
This week, we look at the Law of God in a sermon by Samuel Hopkins. Hopkins was born in 1721 in America. He was interested in farming but ended up attending Yale and studying with Jonathan Edwards. He was used by God as a pastor in Connecticut and later in Rhode Island, where a revival began one year before his death.
God’s law is glorious, unveiling God’s perfections. We cannot understand God apart from His law. Because God is perfect, His law is perfect.
Hopkins’ sermon is entitled The Law of God: The Knowledge of God's Law Necessary In Order to the Knowledge of Sin. You can read the sermon here or in your copy of Salvation in Full Color.
